We have heard it time and time again, “we need to fix diversity in the workplace.” But, it seems that people just talk the talk and don’t walk the walk. We hear it so many times, but it seems that we are just not improving that dilemma fast enough.
When looking at how gender and diversity manifest both in online world as well as actual worlds, it is pretty much the same, but seen in different ways. You can have a company blatantly ignore sexual harassment to lack of respect throughout a company.
One of the huge problems with gender in the workplace is the treatment of women. Unfortunately, we do not have to look very far back for examples, with two of the biggest stories happening within the year.
When thinking about the numerous types of innovation that affect our life everyday, all I can think of is digital dating. If you do not already know, I am a millennial, and digital dating is something I partake in. Telling a millennial that people use to meet in bars would blow their mind I feel.
Personally, I am more likely to find someone though an app rather than in a bar. I think this is because the way I, as a millennial, communicate is mainly through my phone. I like to think I am not like most millennials, but unfortunately that is not completely true. I love my phone so much, it is basically my security blanket. At any given moment, I am going be on my phone.
As a result of my technology addiction, dating through the app is the way to go. So, with that being said, I am so thankful for the wonderful app of Tinder.
In my previous post, I briefly talked about the history of the internet and digital world and some of the things that we are seeing today. Again, this has left me one question. Are we lazy people or are we just adapting?
Now, there are thousands of opinions to this question and none are wrong and all pose valid points.
No matter where you go, someone will always be on their phone, laptop, tablet or some other form of technology. When you connect to the internet you just connect and go, but no one ever thinks about the process behind the internet and how it actually works.
The internet is so complex it is hard to believe that it is relatively young. Many people have lived the majority of their life without the internet, but seem to have forgotten about those times without internet.
